Whatr would make the compare ignore a function

Dec 15, 2015 at 8:31 PM
I've been having a problem with a compare not seeing a particular function in a database so I restored its backup to a new database and then compared the it to the new DB from the backup.
The good news - the compare came with no required changes.
The bad new - it ignored that same function in both databases.

So, Is there something about the text of the procedure?
A formatting issue??

Almost any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hello,

First, thanks for taking the time to create an account to share your problem. I apologize for the delayed response; apparently my notifications haven't been making it to my Inbox.

I believe database text objects (you mentioned 'function' in the discussion subject and 'the text of procedure' later) are detected using a regular expression because of the possibility of being renamed. There have been problems with this in the past and you may be running into something similar. Things like comments with the stored procedure name in them before the actual stored procedure can cause problems.

Hope this is helpful!
